Snowdonia Sanctuary: Our Perfect Escape (and a Little Doggy Drama!)
Just a short hop from the bustling village of Llanberis, we discovered a true hidden gem: a tranquil, private, and detached 3-bedroom property that was the perfect base for our Snowdonia adventure. Located just 4 miles from the mighty Snowdon itself, it offered the ideal balance of easy access to hiking trails and a serene escape from the everyday.
Whether you're an eager hiker ready to conquer Snowdon or simply seeking a peaceful retreat to reconnect with nature, this property has it all. We were immediately charmed by its comfortable, homely feel. It was the perfect place to unwind after a day of exploring the stunning landscapes of Snowdonia.
Our wonderful hosts went above and beyond, leaving us a truly amazing welcome hamper. It was packed with everything we could possibly need, and more! And the handmade Welsh cakes? Let's just say I'm officially addicted! They were the perfect treat after a long hike.
The property boasted a full and well-equipped kitchen, which was fantastic for preparing meals and snacks. It truly felt like a home away from home. There was also a secure outside area with a picnic bench, perfect for enjoying meals al fresco.
Now, about that secure outside area… While it was indeed fenced, we learned a valuable lesson about our dog, Dougie, the escape artist. Alfie, being the well-behaved angel he is, was perfectly content to relax and enjoy the surroundings. Dougie, however, being the little rascal he is, managed to squeeze through a gap in the gate! Thankfully, he didn't go far, but it was a reminder that even in seemingly secure spaces, it's always best to keep a close eye on our furry friends, especially the more adventurous ones. If your dog is prone to Houdini-esque escapes, I'd recommend keeping them on a lead even within the enclosed area.

This hidden gem near Llanberis was the ideal base for our Snowdonia adventure. It offered the perfect combination of easy access to the mountains, a peaceful and comfortable retreat, and all the amenities we needed for a relaxing stay. Just be sure to keep a close eye on your four-legged escape artists – you never know what they might get up to!
